Having first picked up a guitar at the age of 12, Steve immediately knew he wanted to create his own music and began writing songs from the onset.
A few of these early songs were aired during his first live performance aged 16 and from there, Steve went on to perform and record with a variety of bands and artists.
The late 1980's saw Steve working as guitarist for The Danny White Band (Polydor Records) and then during the 1990's he formed the band Effigy alongside his brother Glenn. This project embraced some frenetic touring and the release of the EP "Abstract Decomposure" - the original pressing is a rare and sought after beast indeed!
The following years saw Steve working as a guitarist and vocalist for hire in a variety of bands and then in 2011 he released his first solo album "Small Town Adventures in Hi-Fi". This was followed by 2013's "Somewhere South Of Heaven" - another solo album which featured a core of talented musicians. Steve's third solo album "Songs From The Killing Floor - Volume Three" saw Steve once more working with these musicians who went on to become The Inception.
These three solo albums are published by World Domination Music.
Steve (both solo and with The Inception) have supported artists such as Will Young, Jim Cregan and Sandi Thom.
Whilst reviewing "Songs From The Killing Floor - Volume Three", the Musician Magazine had this to say: Steve Winch is fast maturing into one of our most promising writers - a timeless and mercurial talent at work...
Steve Winch & The Inception have released three singles on the Animal Farm label: "Nitroglycerin', "Best Served Cold" and "Walk A Crooked Mile" and the debut album "Down At The Soul Dispensary" was released June 2021 on SWM.
Steve also has strong ties and working relationships with a diverse range of artists and writers in Nashville, Tennessee and many of his collaborations will be released in the coming months...
